Day 01 :
Arrival in Casablanca & Rabat
- Arrive in Casablanca. Visit the magnificent Hassan II Mosque (the only mosque in Morocco allowing non-Muslims entry).
- Drive to Rabat (Capital). Visit the Hassan Tower, Mausoleum of Mohammed V, and Kasbah of Oudayas.
- Overnight: Rabat.
Day 02 :
Rabat – Chefchaouen (The Blue Pearl)
- Drive north towards the Rif Mountains.
- Arrive in Chefchaouen in the afternoon.
- Explore the famous blue-washed streets, the Ras El Maa waterfall, and the Spanish Mosque.
- Overnight: Chefchaouen.
Day 03 :
Chefchaouen – Volubilis – Meknes – Fes
- Morning photography in Chefchaouen.
- Visit the Roman Ruins of Volubilis (UNESCO site) to see incredible mosaics.
- Lunch in Meknes, the Ismailite capital. See the Bab Mansour gate.
- Arrive in Fes.
- Overnight: Fes.
Day 04 :
Guided Tour of Fes
- Full day with a local guide exploring the Fes El Bali Medina.
- Highlights: The famous Tanneries, Bou Inania Madrasa, Al-Qarawiyyin University, and the Mellah (Jewish Quarter).
- Overnight: Fes.
Day 05 :
Fes – Ifrane – Cedar Forest – Ziz Valley – Merzouga
- Drive into the Middle Atlas Mountains.
- Visit Ifrane ("Little Switzerland") and see the wild Barbary Macaques in the Cedar Forest of Azrou.
- Lunch in Midelt.
- Cross the Tizi n'Haylaj pass and descend into the Ziz Valley (sea of palm trees).
- Arrive in Merzouga.
- Overnight: Hotel in Merzouga (facing dunes).
Day 06 :
Merzouga Desert – Camel Trek
- Afternoon: Mount camels for a sunset trek into the Erg Chebbi Dunes.
- Watch the sunset over the golden sands.
- Evening: Traditional dinner, Berber drums, and stargazing.
- Overnight: Luxury Desert Camp.
Day 07 :
Merzouga – Rissani – Nomads – Merzouga
- Sunrise over the dunes, then return to hotel for breakfast.
- Visit Rissani, the ancient foundation of the Alaouite dynasty.
- Visit a Nomad Family living in tents and the village of Khamlia (known for Gnawa music).
- Visit Lake Merzouga (seasonal flamingos).
- Overnight: Hotel in Merzouga.
Day 08 :
Merzouga – Todra Gorge – Dades Valley
- Drive to Todra Gorge, a massive canyon favored by rock climbers. Walk along the river floor.
- Continue to the Dades Valley via the "Road of a Thousand Kasbahs."
- Visit the "Monkey Fingers" rock formations.
- Overnight: Hotel in Dades.
Day 09 :
Dades – Rose Valley – Skoura – Ouarzazate
- Drive through the Valley of Roses.
- Visit Skoura Oasis and the restored Kasbah Amridil.
- Arrive in Ouarzazate. Visit the Kasbah Taourirt.
- Overnight: Ouarzazate.
Day 10 :
Ouarzazate – Ait Ben Haddou – High Atlas (Remote Pass)
- Visit Ait Ben Haddou Ksar (UNESCO World Heritage site).
- Drive up the Tizi n'Tichka Pass.
- Adventure: Turn off the main road onto the unpaved mountain track (Salt Road) to visit the Telouet Kasbah (ruins of the Pasha Glaoui). This is a spectacular, remote Atlas experience.
- Overnight: Guesthouse in Taddert/Anmiter (High Atlas Mountains).
Day 11 :
High Atlas – Tinmal Mosque – Imlil
- Drive through the remote valleys of the High Atlas.
- Visit the Tinmal Mosque, a 12th-century Almohad masterpiece hidden in the mountains.
- Arrive in Imlil, the base of Jbel Toubkal (North Africa's highest peak).
- Overnight: Lodge in Imlil.
Day 12 :
Imlil – High Atlas Hiking
- Guided Hike: Walk through Berber villages, cherry orchards, and walnut groves. Visit a local family for tea.
- See the waterfalls and the traditional irrigation systems.
- Overnight: Lodge in Imlil.
Day 13 :
Imlil – Agafay Stone Desert – Marrakech
- Drive over the Kik Plateau to the Agafay Desert (a rocky, desert-like landscape).
- Lunch overlooking the desert.
- Arrive in Marrakech in the afternoon.
- Overnight: Marrakech.
Day 14 :
Guided Tour of Marrakech
- Guided tour of the "Red City."
- Highlights: The Koutoubia Mosque, Bahia Palace, Saadian Tombs, Ben Youssef Madrasa, and the bustling Jemaa el-Fnaa square.
- Overnight: Marrakech.
Day 15 :
Departure
- Free morning for shopping in the souks.
- Transfer to Marrakech Menara Airport or the train station.
Is this a physically demanding tour?
It involves some walking (e.g., in the Medinas and the optional hike in Imlil), but the majority is transport-based. The Imlil hike can be adjusted to your fitness level.
What is the accommodation like in the mountains?
In places like Imlil, Taddert, and the desert, we use “Guesthouses” or “Mountain Lodges.” They are generally clean, cozy, and offer excellent local food, but expect fewer amenities than the big city hotels (e.g., sometimes intermittent Wi-Fi).
Is the road to Telouet safe?
Yes, the “Salt Road” is an unpaved track, but it is well-maintained and very scenic. The 4×4 is necessary for this section. It is a safe and adventurous route.
Can I start in Tangier instead of Casablanca?
Yes, we can adjust Day 1 to start in Tangier, adding a stop in Tetouan and Asilah before reaching Chefchaouen.
